Meetings will be held online using Zoom video conference, or you may dial in by phone to hear the online Zoom presentation.

All virtual meetings begin at 10:00 a.m. on the following dates:

• Kaiser Permanente – October 18

• Anthem Blue Cross and Blue View Vision – October 20

• SCAN Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare, and Delta Dental – October 25

You can register for these meetings via your MyLACERS online portal account or by calling LACERS at (800) 779-8328. Once you have successfully registered, expect Zoom access information to be provided at least 1 day prior to your event. 

Members unable to attend these sessions can visit the official LACERS YouTube channel and view a recorded version later.

LEARN ABOUT RETIREE MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND VISION BENEFITS OFFERED BY LACERS

Do you know what medical, dental, and vision plans are offered for LACERS upon retirement? Do you know when and how to enroll? Are you aware of how much these options cost? These details and more will be explained to help you understand your health benefits in retirement during LACERS’ Medical, Dental, and Vision Informational Session taking place on Thursday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m.

You can register online through your MyLACERS account or by calling LACERS at (800) 779-8328, RTT (888) 349-3996. Once you have successfully registered, expect Zoom access information to be provided at least 1 day prior to your event.

2023 OPEN ENROLLMENT IS COMING

This year LACERS Health Benefits’ Open Enrollment period will be held from October 17 – November 17, 2022, with Open Enrollment packets being mailed in early October. Open Enrollment will be your opportunity to enroll in a plan, change your plan or add dependents with changes taking effect on January 1, 2023. 

Members 65 and over will receive a full packet with an Open Enrollment statement, an Open Enrollment overview, and a copy of the 2023 Health Benefits Guide. Members under 65 will receive an Open Enrollment statement, overview, and instructions on accessing the 2023 Health Benefits Guide online.

If you desire a physical copy of the Health Benefits Guide after receiving your packet, you may email lacers.health@lacers.org with the subject line “Requesting 2023 Open Enrollment Health Benefits Guide,” include your name and mailing address in the body, and one will be mailed to you.

Why just talk or dream about exercise when we can “Make Fitness Simple?” Join Coach Sean Foy for monthly classes throughout 2022, with the next session being on September 21 at 9:30 a.m. He will help you train in the comfort and convenience of your own home via computer or phone to realize your personal health and fitness goals! Learn more on the Fitness Made Simple event page.

2022 COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT EFFECTIVE JULY 1

Each year the LACERS Board of Administration considers a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for eligible LACERS Retired Members and Beneficiaries. The COLA is a reflection of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Los Angeles Area, which has been determined to be 3.8% for 2022.

As we celebrate 85 years in existence, we are proud that service to our Members remains first and foremost. We also remain committed to our mission of establishing trusting and lifelong relationships with all of our Members.

LACERS Retired Members July Update

2022 COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT EFFECTIVE JULY 1

The LACERS Board of Administration approved the maximum allowable Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for eligible LACERS Retired Members and Beneficiaries effective July 1. For Tier 1 and Tier 1 Enhanced Members the COLA increase is 3.0%, with 2.0% for Tier 3 Members. For Tier 1 and Tier 1 Enhanced Members, the COLAs in excess of 3% will be banked for use during future years.

Family Death Benefit Plan Rate Decrease

Attention Family Death Benefit Plan (FDBP) participants: the monthly rate for the FDBP will decrease from $2.40 per month to $1.90 per month, effective July 1, 2022. Not a participant of the FDBP program yet?  Click here to find out more information about the program to see if it is right for you.

  • Mom’s Computer Technology Class

Mom’s Computer will be hosting the next monthly Technology class on Wednesday, July 13 at 3:00 p.m. These classes help Members navigate the changing technology landscape and offer tips on using computers, smart phones/tablets, the Internet, and more. Zoom information will be provided to all registered individuals one day prior to the class.

Upcoming City Holidays: Mayor Eric Garcetti recently proclaimed Juneteenth an official City holiday. This year, LACERS will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022 in observance of Juneteenth. LACERS will also be closed on Monday, July 4, 2022 in observance of Independence Day. LACERS office hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Tuesday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To experience the lowest call wait time, contact LACERS Tuesday through Thursday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Mayor Proclaims Juneteenth an Official City Holiday

Juneteenth Freedom Day

Mayor Eric Garcetti has proclaimed Juneteenth an official City holiday. This year, LACERS will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022 in observance of Juneteenth. Please plan accordingly if you need to contact LACERS staff for assistance. Although LACERS will be closed, Members can always access our website, the LACERS FAQs webpage, and the LACERS YouTube channel for helpful information. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, June 21.

LACERS would like to congratulate Cynthia Ruiz on her new appointment to the Department of Water and Power’s Board of Administration. As Cynthia leaves her role as the President of the LACERS Board of Administration to pursue this new role, we would like to sincerely thank her for her commitment and dedication to our organization. She has been a great asset to our department and its Members during her 6+ years as a LACERS Board Member and just over 4 years as President.
