Every Tuesday and Thursday from June 1, 2021 – July 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
LACERS will be running this 5-week, twice-weekly course to help you build your own personal playbook for aging well and empowering you to take key steps to improve your well-being. To learn more, click here.
Mr. Ken Chenault Presentation

Mr. Chenault is the former CEO and Chairman of American Express from 2001 until 2017 and was the third African American CEO of a Fortune 500 company. He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director at General Catalyst, one of many venture capital firms that manages private equity companies on behalf of LACERS.

The new online Retirement Application Portal (RAP) is launching this month! In mid-June, Members retiring in August 2021 and beyond will have access to this secure and convenient way to apply for retirement.

Cost of Living Adjustment for 2021
Each year the LACERS Board of Administration determines a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for eligible LACERS Retired Members and Beneficiaries. The COLA is a reflection of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Los Angeles Area, which has been determined to be 1.6% for 2021.
The maximum COLA is set by the City of Los Angeles Administrative Code at 3.0% for Tier 1 and Tier 1 Enhanced Members, and is set at 2.0% for Tier 3 Members.

LACERS Response to City Council Motion on Healthcare Costs
On March 3, 2021, the Los Angeles City Council approved Council Motion 20-1606 to have the City Administrative Officer, in consultation with LACERS, Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions, and the City’s Personnel Department, along with labor, report to the Executive Employee Relations Committee and appropriate City Council Committees, viable options to reduce health care costs, yet still offer affordable high-quality healthcare.

LACERS ACTUARIAL REVIEW
The Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System (LACERS) undergoes regular review by its actuary. This year’s review has been completed and all pertinent tables have been updated and will take effect on July 1, 2021. All Active Members considering retiring prior to June 30, should create an estimate in their MyLACERS account or request one via our main office line to determine what impact, if any, the table updates may have on their retirement allowance.
