Isaias Cantú
Division Manager, Retirement Services Division
Isaias “EZ” Cantú is the Chief Benefits Analyst working alongside the LACERS’ Retirement Services Division. He is known to live and work according to his mantra of “One Team.”
Isaias has worked for the City of Los Angeles since 2002. During his City career, he has worked for seven City departments overseeing the evaluation, re-envisioning, and improvement of large-scale programs including City elections, LAX’s contract transportation and ride-share services, and the City’s Deferred Compensation program. Most recently, he worked on building and welcoming the LACERS’ family and all of its Members to their forever home at 977. His work has leveraged emerging technology, implemented sustainability measures, and emphasized team building. Mr. Cantú has been recognized for his innovative and humanistic approach to program modernization by the Mayor’s Office.
Isaias was born and raised in South Texas. During his formative years, he was a migrant worker who traveled the country working from sun up to sun down in Iowa, Wyoming, and Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor, where he earned High Honors and degrees in Political Science, Sociology, and Psychology with minors in English and Latino/a Studies. He has a wife and two young boys who he will speak of endlessly.
